So I finally heard from The Daily Collegian, my school's newspaper, about my beat for next year. It wasn't my first choice....or my second.....or my third, for that matter, but my fourth...field hockey. That's right, field hockey. I know basically nothing about it.....but then again, I knew basically nothing about most of the sports I wrote about last year. So it'll be a challenge to say the least...but it could have been worse. Penn State's field hockey team is supposedly decent so we'll see how this works out. It's gonna be a long semester....

Go here for info on PSU field hockey...I know I will.

Just a rumor right now, but imagine this.....the "Black Christmas Tour" featuring Rob Zombie, Disturbed, Marilyn Manson, and Black Sabbath. Don't get your hopes up though, you know how internet rumors go....but i'll keep you posted.

Check out Slipknot's first single from the upcoming album "Iowa," the song is "Left Behind"....you'll have to find it on Morpheus or something, it would have been my featured mp3 but the site isn't working.

Check out Trek's website for a preview of their 2002 line of bikes...awesome stuff. They will be our main line at Anthony's Bicycle Trail this fall so they better be good. And congrats to Trek's own Lance Armstrong for killing the competition and winning his third Tour De France after beating cancer. Way to go Lance.

We saw Planet of the Apes last night...what a disappointment. I swear, I better see a good movie in the theaters this summer or else I'll stop wasting my valuable time. This movie had alot of promise and some of it was cool, but there were just way too many corny moments (i.e. the monkey in a space suit, the police officers, the statue, etc). The monkey makeup may have been better in this one, but I'll still stick to the original.

Oh and will somebody tell Ken Griffey Jr. to shut up? I hate that guy.

I finally heard from PSU about my room next year. My roomie Paul and I are living in 111 Ewing Hall, which is in South Halls. After 2 years in the same room, it was time for a change. We'll be closer to the party scene downtown (cuz I'm all about the party scene) and I'm excited to be in a new place. I was going to put my address and phone number here too but then I used my better judgement, I'll email that sometime soon to those of you who are important.

P.S. Check out the new Vision of Disorder album, From Bliss to Devastation...it's awesome.

Last night Jen and I ate at IHOP (thats the International House of Pancakes in case you didn't know). It was my very first IHOP experience, and I have to say, I liked it. We ate at the one in Seaside but I've been to the IHOP website and located a few IHOPs that are closer to home, so if anybody's interested, I'm up for it. It was some good eatin.

Well Ozzfest 2001 has come and gone, so heres the rundown.
First off, I've never seen so many ugly freaks (i.e. Manson and Slipknot fans) in my whole life. But overall it was awesome, and bettter than I thought it would be.
Now for a rundown of the bands:
American Head Charge - They played first at 11 A.M. and sucked. They were all dressed up in their crazy outfits and hairstyles, they even had two keyboardists who you couldn't even tell were playing anything, and they blew.

Spineshank - Not bad. I gotta check out the new cd.

Hatebreed - Awesome! They were intense and so were the pits. One of the best bands there.

Nonpoint - Skipped them to eat a $6 stromboli. I'm not sure which sucked worse.

No One- They were on the third stage, we hung out behind the stage so we didn't really watch them, but they sounded ok. Saw them behind the stage afterwards, they could almost be confused with the stage crew.

Beautiful Creatures - Same thing for these guys, we were behind the stage and didnt see them. They were the most rock-sounding band on the second and third stages, they even played guitar solos, imagine that. They were ok I guess.

Drowning Pool - Back to the second stage in time for these guys, we decided the lead singer looks like he'd be a class clown at Mercer County or something. Kinda lame, the crowd was really into their song "Bodies," you know, "let the bodies hit the floor." I'm sure you'll hear it on WPST soon.

Taproot - I'm not really into them but they were ok, their white lab coat outfits were pretty cool but alot of their stuff sounds the same.

Union Underground - Skipped them in favor of bottled water ($3.50 a piece!!)

Mudvayne - We got up pretty close for these guys. The face paint and stuff was pretty crazy. They started out good but it kinda lost intensity about halfway through. They finished up strong with "Dig," which was awesome, but its too bad all their songs dont sound like that. Not as good as I hoped.

Now to the main stage:
Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society - Got there just in time to catch their set, which was pretty heavy. Zakk (Who will play guitar on the upcoming Ozzy album) had some sick solos and the best comment of the night: "Limp Bizkit sucks dick." Their cover of Ozzy's "No More Tears" kicked ass. It seemed like not too many people were into them but I thought they were awesome.

Crazy Town - Didn't see them because we were sitting down. They sucked.

Disturbed - Pretty cool, the crowd was really into them. The set seemed to drag a little but maybe that's because it was hot as hell.

Linkin Park - Sat for most of their set, but watched a little. The younger crowd was into them but they were still pretty lame.

Papa Roach - Sat for the beginning of their set, during which some dude threw up right behind me and almost got vomit on me. Then when I stood up I got hit in the head with a roll of duct tape. Thanks alot asshole. Then we left to buy more bottled water and go to the bathroom. The band sounded gay as usual.

Slipknot - Insane! It got pretty crazy on the lawn, pits erupted all around us. They played alot of new stuff, "Disaster Piece," "New Abortion," "Heretic Song," and "People=Shit," it was all awesome. The best moment: I think it was during "Surfacing," maybe I'm wrong, but they stopped playing and Corey got the entire crowd to get down on the ground, and then when they started playing again on the count of four they got the whole place to jump up and down...it was so awesome. They were great and I've got to see them when they headline their own tour.

Marilyn Manson - Not a huge Manson fan, I didn't know alot of the new stuff he played, but the crowd loved it. He played for a long time, but he put on a cool show, which included him walking around on stilts and dressing up like the Pope. Not bad.

Black Sabbath - Incredible. They opened up with "N.I.B." and a giant flaming cross that said Black Sabbath on the stage. Ozzy was his usual crazy self and they sounded great. They had some surprises like the new song "Scary Dreams," which was pretty cool, plus they did "The Wizard" and Ozzy's harmonica part was awesome. They also did old favorites like "Iron Man," "War Pigs," "Black Sabbath," "Snowblind," and "Into the Void." Of course they did "Paranoid" but surprisingly, "Children of the Grave" was the encore song to end the show. Ozzy told everyone who had been drinking, or taking mind-altering substances, to not drive home. How sweet of him. Oh and one funny moment, he was introducing the band and he kept saying "Bill Ward" over and over again, making the audience yell out his name, so the poor old guy had to keep standing up over and over again. I'm surprised he didnt have a heart attack right then and there.

All in all it was an awesome concert, and I'm already looking forward to next year.

Hey guess what? I was on the radio today....well, sort of. The other day I emailed Pierre Robert at 93.3 WMMR to request a workforce block of Black Sabbath since Ozzfest is tomorrow, and he read my email on the air today! It was pretty cool, I mentioned how we listen to him at Anthony's Bicycle Trail and he told me to have a good time at the concert tomorrow. Oh yeah, I'm famous!

We saw Jurassic Park III the other night...what a giant load of dino crap. I mean I didn't expect too much after the sequel, with Jeff Goldblum's black daughter and all that....but this was just plain bad. I found myself wishing that Tea Leoni would get her head bitten off, but no such luck. If you wanna see dinosaurs, stick to the Discovery Channel, its got cool computer graphics and no stupid humans to ruin it.

In music news, Metallica's singer James Hetfield entered rehab for "alcoholism and other addictions." Hopefully they'll get things straightened out, find a bass player, stop acting like pampered big shots, and record a new album. And hopefully it'll sound like Master of Puppets, too. Well, maybe thats pushing it.

And in case you haven't heard, the Ozzfest is tomorrow. 12+ hours of metal madness with Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society, Disturbed, Mudvayne, Hatebreed, and Taproot. Well those are the bands I want to see, anyway. Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Crazy Town, Beautiful Creatures, American Head Charge, Pure Rubbish, Drowning Pool, Systematic, Godhead, Otep, and Nonpoint are there too. I'm even wearing the infamous "Pussy/Chicken" shirt....don't ask. It's gonna be awesome.

Yesterday, the bike company Schwinn was bought by Huffy. This is bad, bad news for some bike retailers, especially the shop I work at, Anthony's Bicycle Trail. See Schwinn makes good bikes that are only sold in bike shops. Huffy makes garbage bikes that are sold in every Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and Crap-Mart out there. Anthony's is a big Schwinn dealer and the company is filing for bankruptcy....Huffy bailed them out, but now who knows whats going to happen. Schwinn bikes might be sold in department stores now and we cant compete with their wacky prices, plus the quality of the bikes is going to go down the toilet. Not good news at all, but in the long run we'll be fine, Anthony will figure something out I'm sure.

I'd like to welcome Molly to the Zak family of cats. Just when you thought they had enough animals in that place....I just hope this one is actually nice to me.

Did I forget to mention that we went to Hooters in Ocean City? Check out the pic of us mackin' it, and see more of our OC trip here on jen's new site.

Great game last night....good seats, we almost caught a Chuck Knoblauch foul ball, the first pitch of the game, but some little kid two rows behind us grabbed it...damn him. Jorge Posada hit a 2 run homer and the game was tied 3-3 when we left in the 11th inning....the Yanks won it in the 13th thanks to a bases-loaded balk and then a single by Tino Martinez. What a game...Yankees rule.

Ok so check this out...I'm eating a bag of sour patch kids the other day, right.....and what do I find at the bottom of the bag? A swedish fish. Thats right...a swedish fish, all covered in sugar and stuff. Lets just say I was quite shocked.

We saw A.I. Artificial Intelligence last night...it was weird, definitely a Stanley Kubrick movie....I enjoyed it, its pretty deep, and some parts of it just might make you cry. Well, if you're a girl, that is.

I'm going to the see the Yankees - Phillies game at the Vet tonight....Randy Keisler takes the mound for the Yanks as they try to steal a game from the mighty Phils.....all I know is, they better win, or I'm gonna be pissed. Go Yanks.

Ozzfest 2001 countdown: 5 days.

Meghan Greene's grad party was "da bomb" last night...congrats to the newest UNC Tar Heel!

Yet another quest for scary places in NJ came up empty last night, we never left Jen's house...if anybody knows any creepy or haunted places in our area let me know.....besides the mental hospital in Princeton, or the Tattletown Bridge in Yardville, which I've already taken a piss on.

Also had my second paintball experience this morning and came away with a sweaty ass and a nice welt on my ribs.....pretty sweet.

6 more days till the big OC trip!!! A whole week in beautiful Ocean City, Maryland, my favorite vacation spot. It's gonna be craaazy fun and I can't wait.
