This weekend is gonna be awesome, I can't wait....Jen is coming up to visit :) :) :)
Big football game too....PSU vs. the No. 2 ranked Miami Hurricanes at 8 p.m. under the lights at Beaver Stadium, and televised nationally on ABC. It's will be just the sixth night game in the stadium's history. Adam Taliaferro, an ex-player who was paralyzed in a game last year, will be leading the Nittany Lions out onto the field. Oh and this will be the debut of the stadium renovations, which include a second luxury box, a second digital scoreboard, and an additional 12,000 seats, giving us a grand total 106,000+, the second largest capacity in the nation....the place is gonna be rockin. If we win, Joe Paterno will tie Bear Bryant's record for all-time major college coaching victories....plus I can almost gaurantee there will be some kind of riot. It's gonna be crazy.
So I get up at the crack of dawn today to get to my 8:00 class...only to find a note on the board saying class is cancelled, when I could have slept in an extra two hours...ain't that a bitch? Wednesday, August 29, 2001
Major updates to my pics section....please check it out. Keep in mind that most of them are just stolen from other webpages, hell I didn't even take most of them, I just write funny captions...but what are ya gonna do?
Good news for Giants fans, the team signed kicker Morten Andersen today. I'll have a little season preview for the team shortly....yeah sportswriting skillz.
I added a review of the new Slipknot album to my cd review page....let me know what you think (unless you hate it).
More songs to check out:
Slipknot - People=Shit Outkast - Wheelz of Steel Pink Floyd - Goodbye Blue Sky In Flames - Ordinary Story Puya - No Interference Black Label Society - Snowblind (Black Sabbath cover) Nirvana - Jesus Don't Want Me For a Sunbeam (unplugged) U2 - Kite Fear Factory - Full Metal Contact REM - Nightswimming (thanks alot meghan its stuck in my head)
***I JUST HEARD THE NEW OZZY SINGLE*** Just by chance I typed in "ozzy, gets me through" on Morpheus and lo and behold it came up, and it wasnt even fake....the quality wasnt super great but hey its cool.....the song is awesome, I've only heard it once but I can pretty much tell its Zakk Wylde on guitar as expected, the riffs and the solo sounded pretty good.....now I'm excited. :)
Some music news, courtesy of Wickedland.com:
Ozzy finished filming a video for the first single "Gets Me Through" from his upcoming album....he will also be venturing on the "Black Christmas Tour" in Nov. and Dec. with Rob Zombie and possibly Marilyn Manson, Disturbed, and more. Speaking of tours, the "Road Rage" Tour featuring Roadrunner Records artists Machine Head, Fear Factory, Chimaira, and Ill Nino has some tentative dates, although none anywhere near me....if there are any dates that I can go to, I'm there...and I bet a few of my friends would be interested too. And finally, Hatebreed signed to a new record label....hopefully they'll have a new album out sometime soon. Tuesday, August 28, 2001
Today there was a fire at Wartik Lab here on campus, hence the cancellation of my Russian History class a half-hour early....sweeet! It was boring as hell too, I sure was a happy camper.
I just got the new Slipknot album - "IOWA" and its awesome so far, I'm listening to it as we speak. I'll have a review eventually, first gotta take care of some other business.
Yesterday I joined the staff of The Lion 90.7 WKPS, Penn State's student radio station. I'll be training once a week during the show Metal Machine...how cool is that? Maybe eventually I'll get to be on the air, but for now I'm just a rookie, and you can't listen to the station online yet. So if anything changes in the near future, i'll be sure to tell you.
I'm also working on a feature for the Collegian Magazine, and it seems like I've been doing it forever. Hopefully today, if not tomorrow, it'll finally be done, I can't wait to get it over with. Now I'm just counting down the hours until Jen gets here on Friday....I can't wait! Oh and yesterday I watched both the first and last episodes of The Wonder Years...now thats good TV. Thanks to Alan and Matt for the visit yesterday....had a good time showing them around PSU, and I'll be down to Bloomsburg as soon as I can.
Saw Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back last night....it was pretty funny and had some hilarious moments. I guess I didn't get all the jokes because I haven't really seen any of Kevin Smith's other movies except for Dogma...but I plan on watching them and then I won't feel so out of the loop. Mike actually bought Playstation 2 today...man I can't wait to get my grubby hands on it. I'm kinda surprised he bought it, I guess what sealed the deal is the outstanding graphics on Madden 2002.....so crisp and lifelike you can see every chin.
Alan and Matt are coming to visit tomorrow, I can't wait to show them a good time, Penn State-style. (i.e. downloading mp3s and watching tv).
It smells like the circus outside...
Boy I could really go for some gorilla milk right now. (Cuz I'm a swinger and all). Wednesday, August 22, 2001
Boy I'm tired...and we haven't even made it through a week of school yet.
Some songs I'm digging right now: The Exit - Susan Pink Floyd - Pigs (Three Different Ones) P.O.D. - Alive Pearl Jam - Off He Goes Blink-182 - Stay Together For the Kids Tool - Parabol/Parabola Cheap Trick - Surrender Stone Temple Pilots - Kitchenware and Candybars Air - Dirty Trip Radiohead - Nice Dream Finally, check out the website for what became one of my favorite TV shows this summer: Blind Date. And check out the show sometime, its pretty entertaining.
Looks like the Rangers missed out on signing Brett Hull. Hull signed with the Detroit Red Wings today, and now it looks like they're the favorites in the West. And it looks like the Rangers will be wallowing at the bottom of the standings yet again, unless Lindros really surprises me...which is doubtful.
My first men's soccer article was on the front page of today's sports section in the Collegian, check it out. We even got fan mail, which read: "Dear Jason and Rick: Thank you for the great article and photo of the men's soccer team. We fans are delighted to see the Collegian article and photo. Please forward our thanks also to the photographer. FAN MJ Stout" Yeah, we rule. I also joined a fantasy football league where you pick the winners of each game every week, its pretty cool. We want alot of people to be in it and anyone can join, so let me know if you wanna sign up. One last thing...check out the newest OTC shirt, it was custom made for me by Ed....order yours today! Well I survived my day from hell. The classes overall seem pretty easy, so far anyway. And all the soccer coverage for the Collegian is coming along nicely, tomorrow's issue will have the first of a three part preview of the upcoming season, so don't miss it.
Penn State football faces the second toughest schedule in the nation, behind only USC. Miami, Southern Miss, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State, and Indiana all at home, plus Michigan State, Illinois, Northwestern, Virginia, and Iowa on the road. It could be a looong fall here in Happy Valley if we don't improve from last year.
The day from hell is finally here. The 8 am class didn't go so bad....except for being at the ungodly hour of 8 o'clock in the morning. Now I've got 3 more today...plus an exhibition soccer game to go to, and then an article to write. Oh boy.
I finished reading Catch-22 finally after 5 years. I read the first chapter in like 1996 and then put it down until this summer....I read the rest basically during those long hours at work when I was bored as heck. Definitely unlike anything else you'll ever read, its weird but I recommend it. Yes, I read a book. Monday, August 20, 2001
Thanks to Ed, I came across this site called Findyourspot.com that helps you find a place to live thats suited for you. The first on my list, according to the survey: Norfolk, Virginia! Interesting....the next choices were Richmond Va, Greeneville NC, and Rocky Mountain/Stony Creek NC....looks like I was born to be a southerner. But the next choice was really intriguing: New Brunswick, NJ. I just may be spending some time there real soon, more news on that later. And my last result: Miami, Florida (because of my gay puerto rican heritage of course). I suggest you check the site out.
Damn I've gotta see Bubble Boy. Well, back to rasslin'....
Happy Anniversary Jen....32 months and counting!
Today I spent about 5 hours at the Daily Collegian office waiting for a phone call from the soccer team's sports info person, and she never called. So, we couldn't do our article and we don't know much about what's going on with the team. Oh and I bought my books, $217 and I didn't even get them all. But I'm sure some of you had it even worse, like my roommate who paid over $400 for his and didn't even get them all either. College education is such a rip-off. Sunday, August 19, 2001
Special thanks to Mike, Mark, Ed, and Dom for an awesome trip to NYC a few days ago....the NBC tour, the underground record stores, and of course, "starship enterprise? not quite...." What else can I say, it was a good time.
Also, check out the website for a new band called Bleeding Ground...My friends Matt Mark and Alan are founding members, I attended one of their practices the other day and it was awesome....keep an eye on these guys, they're gonna make it big someday I tell ya.
Well I'm back up at Penn State for my junior year. I've got a new room this year in a different dorm, but I'm rooming with Paul again, he was my roommate last year. I just moved in today and got all situated, the room is better than I expected, no bunk beds or anything. It's even bigger than last year so anybody who wants to visit (hint hint) is more than welcome. I've got my car up here too this year so I'll be visiting some of my friends too I'm sure. I had a great summer...first and foremost I want to thank my lord and personal savior jesus christ, secondly I want to thank my agent, and thirdly I want to thank all my H-Town friends for making this summer so great. Good luck to all of you in whatever it is that you're doing this year, wherever you are, and I hope to see all of you real soon. Wednesday, August 15, 2001

Yeah so I get online this morning to check my fall schedule, like the times and everything, and I notice I'm only signed up for 4 classes instead of 5. Now I had alot of trouble in the spring trying to get into this philosophy class right, and I thought everything was all squared away, but it wasnt. So I call school and it turns out they decided to drop the class from the fall schedule because not enough people signed up. Oh and they also didn't tell me about it. "We don't have to notify anyone if we drop it early," the lady tells me. Screw you. So now I'm only signed up for 12 credits, I have no idea what else to take, and school starts in a week. My new advisor was supposed to call me today, but.....no call. So now what? I hate school.
We saw The Others last night....it was pretty good, had some truly scary frightening moments and a good ending too. I don't know what was scarier though, the movie or the audience. Man they were so rude. "No he didn't!!" But anyway, I suggest you go see it. Monday, August 13, 2001
We just got our deposit ($$$) back from our OC trip, a cool $50 each. No surprise, since we left the room in "pure virgin-like condition" according to Mike....even with the ceramic fish that I broke and everything. Just in time too, I needed that money.
We're goin to see "The Others" tonight, I'll let you know how it was.....but I am your daugther! So the Rangers are still working out a deal with Eric "Pretty Boy" Lindros...I just hope he's not a big bust, becuase if he is, man I'd hate him even more. The Blueshirts are also said to be talking deals with Brett Hull too...man that'd be sweet. And I heard recently that Mike Richter is in great shape as he's practicing with the U.S. Olympic team...boy this is good news for Rangers fans.
My boss is still on vacation so I've been working "mad hours" at the ol' bike shop....I should be maxin' and relaxin' since its my last week before school starts, but at least i'll have a fat paycheck this week...my last day is Wednesday too so I'll have a few days to myself at least.
We went to my cuz Sean's 12th bday party last night, it was slammin'. Happy birthday to my favorite (and only) cousin! Jen and I also attended a sort-of going away party for Meghan Greene last night, which was also slammin'. Even though me, Alan, and Sean felt like old dudes hanging out with high schoolers...we even did a little reminiscing looking at old photo albums of our younger days...man, we're losers. But anyway, we had a good time...our dear Meghan is heading off to UNC this week and Sean-Dogg will be back at Delaware this week also, so we bid the Greenes farewell and wish them much happiness and success in the coming school year. Jen and I also saw American Pie 2 last night...much funnier than I expected, there were jokes that they actually didn't show in the previews that were funny as heck...sure alot of the jokes from the first one were basically repeated with a new twist, but it was perhaps more hilarious than the first one...its the first movie I really enjoyed at the theaters in a long time, and I suggest you check it out. *** OZZY NEWS ***
Ozzy's new album will be released on October 16th, and the title is "Down to Earth"...not quite as good as my suggestion, "Ozzteoporosis," but oh well. The first single is called "Gets Me Through" and it hits the radio Sept. 4th (which means I should be able to find it online next week). Damn, I can't wait. I leave for school in only 11 days....where has the summer gone? I'm not looking forward to it very much, but hopefully it'll be a good year. At least I have Penn State football to look forward to...The Lions aren't ranked in the top 25 this year unfortunately, but I expect big things now that Rashard "The Bum" Casey is gone. Don't worry, we'll make a bowl game this year, a big bowl game in fact. But it's gonna be tough, especially starting the season against Miami on Sept. 1. At first I thought I'd have to miss this game because it conflicted with a field hockey game I'd have to cover for the newspaper.....but alas, the field hockey team is playing at North Carolina....thank God. I'll just have Meghan Greene cover it for me. Meghan, your field hockey team is going DOWN! Speaking of Penn State, it seems there are some big changes in store for the incoming freshman, thanks to the new "Penn State Principles." It only took President Graham Spanier 15 months to come up with these nuggets of wisdom and inspiration. Man, I hope there's a riot the first weekend. In other news, the next Star Wars movie will be called "Attack of the Clones." Huh? "Attack of the Clones?" God its like a nightmare...George Lucas must be out of his mind! Nobody knows yet what the whole clones thing is about, except for an obscure reference in the first Star Wars about the "Clone Wars" or something...but come on, why do they have to attack? Samuel L. Jackson is playing a Jedi Knight in this one too, and don't forget the return of Jar Jar Binks...not to mention the addition of Jimmy Smits to the cast...this whole thing sounds like a bad Mad TV skit. And there isn't even a Darth Maul in this one (although my favorite character Boba Fett is rumored to make an appearance....but he'll probably be computer animated and perform a dance number with Chewbacca or some shit). I just hope it's better than The Phantom Menace or I might cry like a disappointed, pathetic nerd. And finally...Jen and I rented "Down to Earth" starring Chris Rock the other night...you may remember the commercials, it's the one where he dies and comes back to life in the body of a fat white guy....if you like Chris Rock's comedy, check it out, its got a few funny moments and one or two hilarious moments....but if you don't like Chris Rock, stay away, cuz the plot is pretty lame. Very lame, actually. Tuesday, August 07, 2001
Very special birthday wishes today to two good friends of mine, Mr. Mike "DJ Tanner" Antenucci and Ms. Karen "Elk" Ehrhardt....happy birthday guys! Monday, August 06, 2001
You simply must hear OTC's new cd, "The Basement Files." 47 tracks of rare demos, outtakes, and monster jams....it's a masterpiece. Saturday, August 04, 2001
