Pics are finally up........check out Jen's site for images from The Collegian Formal and the PSU vs. Michigan State game over the weekend, theyre pretty cool.....
Headin home for Turkey Day soon, hope you all have a good break .... A little Ozzy news, it seems that he's planning to record an album of covers (yes!), I'll have more news when it becomes available.... don't forget that season 2 of The Osbournes premieres tonight at 10:30 on MTV. Sunday, November 24, 2002
well i went to my final psu home game as a student today...........we watched the Lions destroy michigan state, 61-7......yes, the coveted Land Grant Trophy is ours for another year. Larry Johnson was outstanding again, rushing for 279 yards and four TD's IN THE FIRST HALF as he became just the ninth player in NCAA Div. I history (and the first Penn Stater) to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season......it was another amazing Beaver Stadium experience, cold as hell out there but what a way to end a senior year........I'll have some pics up soon.....
Oh and to top it off WE'RE GOIN TO THE CAPITAL ONE BOWL BABY!!!!! thats right after two years we are finally bowl bound again and the capital one (formerly Citrus) bowl is pretty much guaranteed, we'll face the No. 2 team in the SEC on Jan. 1 in Orlando, Fla. and without a doubt ill be there............oh yes, its gonna be sweet. On Friday night Jen and I attended the annual Collegian Formal up at some reception place at Tussey Mountain, let's just say it was a fun and memorable night, yes we got our dance on big-time, we were dominating the dance floor.....a good time was had by all (except Rob Riva, but that was another story) and I'll have some groovy pics from that evening available soon also..... This is just silly, some fat kids suing McDonald's because they got too fat and have health problems......one kid ate it 3-4 times a week, another had it every meal for three years while living in a HOMELESS SHELTER, where is he getting the money for Mickey D's, I thought they had to eat beef stew or slop in those shelters anyway..........ridiculous.....
Vote Larry Johnson for Heisman, if he wins this online poll he could get ONE OFFICIAL FIRST-PLACE VOTE ohhhhhhhhhhhhh! God I could have strangled this girl who sat next to me in Soc and spent the whole class picking her freakin fingernails, seriously I could have just socked her right in the jaw and ripped her fingernails off, the classroom was completely silent except for this broad and her stupid nails, the sound was like echoing in my head........why do people have to be so rude? Download "Lord of this World" by Black Sabbath, good tune...... Don't miss my radio show tonight, among my guests will be Jeff Rice, sports editor of the Daily Collegian! The fun begins at 12 midnight on The Lion 90.7 fm..... Tuesday, November 19, 2002
Have you heard about the new 9-11 Trading Cards? Looks like they're gonna be the hot new stocking stuffer this Xmas......I'll trade you my Todd Beamer and my Mohammad Atta rookie for your Rudy Guliani hologram....
Ace in the Hole tanked it this week, we lost for the second time in a row. Four lousy points by Peerless Price, six by Tiki Barber and a whopping ZERO by the Ravens defense didn't help the cause........another tough matchup this weekend, we're playing a guy with Priest Holmes, the top fantasy player this year........only one more game after that too before the playoffs and we're still fighting for a spot.....should be interesting. Check out the new release from Bloodbath, "Resurrection Through Carnage".......good ish. Monday, November 18, 2002
Weekend update.....
Went back to Jersey this weekend, had a good time........Jen and I watched Mr. Deeds...certainly not Adam Sandler's best, but had a few laughs. We also went to see The Ring with Ed and Mike...I thought it was pretty good, definitely original and definitely creepy (albeit confusing)...it's definitely worth checking out. I went to see my brother's football team (Steinert High Spartans) in their playoff game against Sayreville......unfortunately they lost 21-0, but honestly it was alot closer, they played a good game despite the weather conditions and the loss of their top defensive player and one of their running backs.....also Sayreville was the No. 10 team in the state and they had this Junior Jabbie kid who supposedly is goin to Penn State next yearso you have to give them credit, they just didn't catch any breaks. I just think they should throw to the tight end more. The same day I also caught Penn State's 58-25 pounding of Indiana.....Larry Johnson had another stellar day, with four TD's and over 300 yards rushing........he broke the PSU single-game rushing record for the third time this season, he also set a single-season rushing record as he aproaches 2,000 on the season......this guy is amazing, he seriously needs some consideration for the Heisman....just think what it would have been like if he was the feature back the past two years. But anyway, let's just keep the good times rolling, they face the reeling Michigan State Spartans in the season finale this weekend, and then they should be headed to a New Year's bowl in sunny Florida........can't wait. Let's keep the football theme going....the Giants won again today, beating the lowly Washington Redskins 19-17....despite the win they looked pretty ugly (well, sounded pretty ugly, I listened to the game on the radio for the most part).......they dropped plenty of passes, also dropped 3 potential interceptions, the receiving corps is hurting so bad they had to sign 55-year old Herman Moore.....the one bright spot was my boy Jeremy Shockey, who had career highs in receptions, yardage, and taunting opposing players.......anyway, somehow the Giants are still in the thick of the NFC East race, theyre one game back of the division-leading Eagles, and to top it all off DONOVAN MCNABB BROKE HIS ANKLE hahaha yeah thats right, he could be out the rest of the season, so let's just say the Gaints believe it or not have a chance to take over the first-place spot. Yeah boy. Thursday, November 14, 2002
Overheard on the streets of State College: "It was like I brewed a pot of coffee in my ass." - some dude
Right now I'm eating a buttered popcorn-flavored lollipop..........it's probably the weirdest thing I've ever eaten. Tomorrow Jen and I are going home for a nice relaxing weekend........dont forget to check out the PSU/Indiana game on TV Saturday......peace Wednesday, November 13, 2002

Damn, can't believe J-Lo and Ben Affleck are getting married....call me crazy but I have a feeling these two are gonna be together for a long, long time...
If you're in the mood for some good music, try these... 1. Dark Tranquility - "The Treason Wall" 2. Pearl Jam - "Save You" 3. Sepultura - "Spit" (live) 4. Darkest Hour - "The Legacy" 5. Opeth - "Master's Apprentice" 6. Judas Priest - "Freewheel Burning" 7. Ozzy Osbourne - "My Little Man" 8. Rolling Stones - "Angie" 9. Tool - "Pushit" 10. Black Label Society - "Heart of Gold" (Neil Young cover) Over the weekend, Jen and I watched Friday......every time I watch it, it's still funny, so many classic lines. It just wasn't the same after Chris Tucker wasn't in the sequel, Next Friday, and they moved out of the ghetto.........now I see there's a new one, where Ice Cube gets robbed on christmas or some crap...give us a break, Ice. Good PSU game yesterday, they beat Virginia 35-14 at Beaver Stadium.....
the best part about it was, I got to cover the game.....that's right, it was finally my turn to do the game story for the Collegian's website.....it's a far cry from actually covering football on a regular basis, but still it was cool. I got to sit in the nice warm press box with a perfect view, had some free eats, had stats handed to me.....for the last five minutes, I got to go down on the field, we stood right in the back of the endzone and watched PSU driving toward us....then after the game Joe Paterno and the rest of the Lions walked off the field right past us. After that, I got to sit in on JoePa's press conference.....then I got to go up and interview Zack Mills and Larry Johnson with some other reporters, it was pretty damn cool. Anyway, check out my game story...... I also had another story in the Collegian Magazine for this weekend.......it's about the guy who plays the Nittany Lion mascot.....it came out pretty good, it was the cover story....if youre not a "sports" fan per se, you still might find it interesting, so give it a look, if you care... Alright that's it for now, I've got three meetings to go to, then work...........I'll let you know how my fantasy team does, hopefully Morten Andersen will kick about 10 field goals of 50 yards or more....hey, it could happen Wednesday, November 06, 2002
Well, long time no post......I'll fill you in on what I've been up to. Let's start with....
***CONCERT REVIEW*** Who: Meshuggah, TOOL When: November 1, 2002 Where: The Bryce Jordan Center, State College PA Attendees: Me, Matt, Alan Excellent concert! Matt and Al had already seen Tool, they especially wanted to check out Meshuggah, all the way from Sweden. It was my first time seeing both bands, and neither disappointed. Meshuggah was pretty intense, I find their music a little challenging to listen to (okay, a LOT challenging), they played a few tunes from their new cd Nothing and also some older stuff, my favorite was "Future Breed Machine"....the crowd wasn't too into it, but I guess that's because Tool fans are pretty devoted (sometimes weird) people..........Tool started out playing "Sober," which was a crowd-pleaser. Their whole setup was awesome, they had strange lighting, two video screens playing their videos mixed with other weird footage, this crazy mural in the background of a face, banners depicting the insides of a human body and whatnot, these odd free-floating molecule things......there was plenty to look at. Maynard the lead singer was pretty much silent in between songs, he also wore women's underwear for most of the show. They did a bunch of songs from the new album ("The Grudge," "Schism," "Parabola") and some older songs ("Aenima," "Stinkfist," "Forty Six and 2")....I think the highlight for us was this extended tribal drumming jam session with Thomas Haake of Meshuggah and Tool's Danny Carey, damn it was freaking good. And Carey is a big mofo, by the way. All in all, another great concert. I also wanna discuss Halloween........last Thursday I did my special radio show, for those who didn't catch it, I think it turned out pretty good....a few surprise tunes like Alice Cooper's "Feed My Frankenstein" and Motley Crue's "Shout at the Devil", and of course a few Sabbath and Ozzy numbers. Thanks, everybody that tuned in..... Over the weekend we went to The Rick's Halloween party (I went as Happy Gilmore...the costume was free) and I have to say we had a hell of a time, he did an awesome decorating job in his apartment (fog machine included)...also got some good pics of the night, but those are for our eyes only. Great party Rick, when's the next one? Hopefully he won't break a door down next time.... Had alot of fun hosting Alan for the weekend, in addition to the concert and the party, we also watched Penn State beat Illinois, 18-7, to become bowl eligible after not making a bowl the past two years.....Larry Johnson set a single-game rushing record, breaking the previous record which he set just three weeks earlier. It was cold out, but it was another good game by the Lions, now all they have to do is beat Virginia, Indiana and Michigan State to make it to a nice sunny Florida bowl game on New Year's Day....you can bet I'll be there. I almost forgot, but the winner of last week's inaugural Ass of the Week award was Giants running back Charles Stackhouse, whose careless mistake cost them a touchdown against the Eagles. I'll have canidates for the next award soon, any suggestions? Our fantasy football team, Ace in the Hole, just keeps on winning.....it's funny we are 13th out of 20 teams in the league in point totals, yet we are 6-3 and tied for first place in our division. We've just been making all the right moves, a big game by Tiki Barber helped us pull out another win this week...an injury to the other team's RB, Fred Taylor, also helped us out. I'm hoping for another big game from Tiki this week against the lowly Vikings, as well as a huge day for Terrell Owens against the Chiefs, and we'll basically be playoff-bound.... Congratulations to all the big winners in yesterday's election......as if I really give a crap. |
