Had another fun weekend ... The Rick's Luau/Hedonism 2k3, baby! had to be the highlight .... perhaps the final big party of my college career, it was a good one .... go here for Jen's pics documenting the whole evening, they're dope ...

I had alot of fun with my family being up here for the weekend, and showing my brother and his friend Mark what college life is all about .... we went to a party hosted by my old roommate Paul, that was pretty fun ... we visited the brand new Penn State Sports Museum, that was quite fun, it's awesome in fact, and I got my picture taken with John Cappaletti's Heisman Trophy and all of Penn State's national championship trophies .... we checked out Bubba Sparxxx and The Get-Up Kids in concert at Movin' On, those were interesting .... we hit up the annual Blue-White game, that was pretty cool, we actually got to sit at the 50-yard line in seats that had backs! The QBs looked a little shaky at times, but the WR's looked great, RB's looked decent although we still need to find someone to step up and replace Larry Johnson ....

Speaking of which, congrats to all the Penn Staters who were chosen in the NFL Draft this weekend ... we had four go in the 1st round (tied only with Miami) - defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy (12th, St. Louis), defensive end Michael Haynes (14th, Chicago), wide receiver Bryant Johnson (17th, Arizona) and LJ (27th, Kansas City) .... we also had two go in the second round, cornerback Bryan Scott (Atlanta) and defensive tackle Anthony Adams (Chicago), a few more will probably sign as free agents this week .... and who said PSU can't recruit talent anymore? I just hope all these guys, or at least most of them, go on to have decent NFL careers ....

In other draft news, the NY Giants selected Miami defensive tackle William Joseph with their first-round pick, I have to say I like that selection, this was a real need with the question marks surrounding veteran Keith Hamilton ... as for the rest of their picks .... well, in the second round they took someone I never heard of, nor can I pronounce his name: Osi Umenyiora, a defensive end from, where else, Troy State .... defensive end was also a need, and supposedly the guy's talented, so will see ... the only thing that bothers me is Jim Fassel was on ESPN right afterward and was talkin about how much they loved QB Chris Simms, in fact he said more about him than Osi, yet they passed on him ... if that guy turns out to be a decent pro I think I'll shoot myself, but I guess they are really high on backup Jesse Palmer for some reason, or better yet, Jason Garrett .... with their third pick the G-Men took another unpronouncable name from a low-profile school, tight end Vishante Shiancoe of the illustrious Morgan State ... I just hope they know what they are doin. They went on to take four defensive backs and three wide receivers, which are smart moves .... I'm just excited for next season.

NFL Draft today, look for as many as four Penn Staters to go in the first and/or second rounds ..... if you want further information, check out the Collegian's NFL Draft preview from Friday, I created and designed it ...

Also the Blue-White game is today, that's Penn State's annual Spring scrimmage, I'll be checking it out with my family .... if you're not from the area you still might be able to check it out on the YES network ....

Later today there's Movin On, annual free concert.... this year's lineup includes Jimmie's Chicken Shack, the Get Up Kids, Wilco, and the one and only Mr. Bubba Sparxxxxxx....

And then tonight, the highlight of the weekend, The Rick's Luau/Hedonism 2k3 baby ...

The NHL Playoffs keep getting better and better .... so many OT games, just about all of them have been great, except for last night's stinker, Philly's win over Toronto (it's OK though ... Ottawa in 6) ... how about Minnesota upsetting the mighty Colorado? Vancouver coming back from the brink to beat St. Louis? Don't forget about the Ducks' huge win over Detroit ... the only thing that'd make it even better would be the Rangers being in it .... ah well, someday I suppose ......

The Yankees, on the other hand, are tearing it up ... a scorching 17-3, their best start ever ... the starting pitchers are still perfect, everyone's hitting ... and they don't even have Jeter, mind you ....

My family's comin up tomorrow, should be a dope weekend, hopefully it won't rain ... god I hate State College weather ....

Check out my article on the Penn State equestrian team, you won't be disappointed ...

In the midst of another fun weekend .... my good friend Al-Dawg just left, he'd been up here since Thursday night, when he was a special guest on my radio show .... we had some fun, I want to thank Al very much for comin up ....

I also want to wish everyone a Happy Easter, I'm spending mine at the Collegian office since I'm one of the few people not going home .... this campus is pretty damn empty this weekend ... that should change next weekend though, Blue-White Game, Movin' On ... my folks are comin up with my brother and his friend (who will be guests on next week's radio show) .... we'll be hitting up a few dope parties too, it should be an excellent time ...

If you want to watch a good movie sometime, check out a Spike Lee Joint called 25th Hour, it's about a drug dealer (Ed Norton) who's about to go to prison for seven years .... former Baltimore Raven Tony Siragusa makes his acting debut, he's pretty funny ... it was very enjoyable and it really made you think, so check it out sometime ...

Alright Jen and I are headin to good ol' Olive Garden to celebrate Christ's resurrection (OG style) .... later ...

Ok time for the weekend recap ....

On Friday we went to the Collegian Formal, a good time was had by all (except The Rick, who was quite pissed about the lateness of the bus that picked us up) .... I got my dance on, it was my last formal ever and it was definitely a fun one .... Jen took some very entertaining pictures, I suggest you check them out ...

On Saturday we travelled to beautiful Altoona, Pa., to check out a minor league baseball game, the Altoona Curve (AA for the Pittsburgh Pirates) took on the Reading Phillies .... it was a tad cold but we had a lot of fun, former Penn State star Larry Johnson threw out the first pitch, and there were fireworks after the Curve won it in the bottom of the ninth .... very nice stadium too, almost exactly like the Trenton Thunder's in my hometown, if you're ever in the Altoona area check out a game .... there are a few more excellent pictures from the event, check those out also ...

Later that night we went to a party hosted by my friends Robert J. Spruck and Sam "Chevy" Cavalieri and again a good time was had by all ....

On Sunday we went to a picnic / baseball game hosted by my roommate Matt, it was a beautiful day ... it felt good to swing a bat after a few years, and once we figured out how to start a fire we enjoyed some good food ... unfortunately I had to leave early to go to work, but hey, I guess that's why they call me the working man ....

Some other Jay news:

I totally missed a meeting with my Comm 462 professor last Thursday, I didn't even bother to schedule one with him .... that's bad.

There's going to be a college football segment on Sports Center Wednesday, the ESPN guys are going to be filming at Penn State spring practice, check it out ....

Al-Dawg might be coming up this weekend to appear on my radio show Thursday, I've got my fingers crossed ...

If anyone's looking for an apartment in State College for the summer, contact me immediately .... PLEASE

Apparently, Saddam Hussein is a playa ...

There are only three more editions of the Metal Machine with the Madman :(

Finally, check out the following albums, I've been enjoying them immensely lately:

Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory
Soilwork - Figure No. 5
Beyond the Embrace - Against the Elements
Darkane - Expanding Senses
Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique

Ah yes, it's one of my favorite times of the year as far as sports are concerned .... time for the NHL Playoffs. Yes, it's lost some of its magic over the past six years for me because my beloved Rangers have been, well, horrible ... but I still enjoy the games, because the playoff push for the Stanley Cup is definitely one of the hardest tasks in sports, and it's awesome to see these teams begin the long grueling road to glory .... there are always some entertaining series, drama, and some real big upsets .... Case in point: anybody catch last night's game between Detroit and Anaheim? It went to three overtimes, hell of a game .... and the performance by Mighty Ducks' goalie Jean-Sebastian Giguere, in his first ever playoff game, was simply heroic 63 saves as the defending champion Red Wings fired shot after shot at him .... Paul Kariya won it for the Ducks in the third OT, it was awesome .... that's why I love the playoffs.

PS: Flyers are going down in the first round (again), they're already down a game .... they need a goalie, maybe they should ask Ron Hextall to come out of retirement.... hah!

Very special Jay's World Happy Birthday greetings go out to my good friend Mr. Sean P. Greene, who turns 22 today .... congrats Sean-Dogg, you're finally eligible for health care, you old fuck.

I went to a job fair today .... words cannot express how dumb it was.

How about those Rangers? Missed the playoffs for a sixth straight time .... god I hate them. Trade them all. Fire everyone. I think I'm gonna become a Minnesota Wild fan. Unbelievable. Unacceptable.

On a less depressing note, how about those Yankees? 6-1 baby, first place (even without Derek Jeter) .... my main man Hideki "Big Head" Matsui blasted his first grand slam yesterday in the home opener .... I smell World Series!!

Collegian Formal is on Friday ... yet another great excuse for Collegian fools to get drunk and party it up .... should be a good time, as always.

If you want to check out some really good mellow music, try Opeth's new cd "Damnation" .... they're a metal band but this disc definitely isn't metal, I recommend it to anyone who likes good music.

Well I'm back in the U.S. of A.... Jen and I had a great time in Niagra Falls, Canada (cool pictures available here).... the trip got off to a rough start, with Jen picking up her first speeding ticket in some hick Pa. town, then we ran into an ice storm on our way through Buffalo .... crossing the border into Canada was a joke, you'd think with all the homeland security stuff it'd be tougher but basically they just asked if we had ID (not to see it, just if we had it) and what we were doin, Jen's answer of "just hangin' out" apparently was good enough .... anyway, it was mighty cold up and icy up there, it was tough to see the sites outdoors .... but the Falls were pretty spectacular, especially with all the ice and stuff, it was quite a site .... the town was pretty neat, they had some cool restaurants, we ate at Hard Rock Cafe and some place called Boston Pizza, both were quite good .... we hit up the Casino Niagra, the 19 drinking and gambling age was a plus .... I won like $40 the first night and Jen won $60 the second night so that was dope ... we went below the Falls and up in this tall-ass Skylon Tower for some cool views .... the whole culture clash thing was kinda cool, the Canadians are definitely all about hockey, it's all that was on TV, which was neat .... some guy said "have a good time, eh?" when we went into the Casino, it was awesome .... the whole exchange rate thing was a pain in the ass ... and get this, they call restrooms "washrooms", crazy eh? .... anyway, overall it was an awesome trip, I hope to make it back up there sometime (when it's nicer) and I definitely recommend it to everyone else ...

Go here for a dope panoramic pic of the falls that Jen made (double-click the pic) ...

Well another season of Major League Baseball is underway, I know everyone is excited ... I'm lookin forward to the Yankees' season at least, it's been a long title drought, it's time to return to glory .... I won't get to see them as much as usual but you can bet I'll be following them intently ... Derek Jeter had an unfortunate injury in the opener last night, but it's all good, he'll be back to his old form in no time ....
