It's been a long time since my last post, sorry, I've been neglecting Jay's World for a while now, but after a huge public outcry I'm back ....
First off, congrats to the Yankees for winning their 6th straight AL East crown ... bring on the Twins. I've been pretty busy lately with work, it's going well, I'm getting the hang of things pretty well, and the paychecks have been nice for a change ... Went up to PSU last week for a brief visit, it was nice to see everyone, including Jen ... pretty weird not being a student anymore though. Speaking of PSU, the football team has been less than impressive so far, we're 2-2 but wins over Temple and Kent State weren't really impressive, neither were the losses to Nebraska and Boston College ... everyone's calling for JoePa's head, I just wish they'd think about what they're saying because we might be sorry after he's gone .... freshman RB Austin Scott has looked pretty good when he actually gets in the game, the team could be a real contender within the next few years, just hope this year doesn't turn out like the debacles in 2000 and 2001 .... Giants are another shaky looking team, supposed to be a Super Bowl contender and they look like crap in a loss to lowly Dallas and a near-loss to Washington ... better get their acts together, but I think they'll be OK in the long run. Music news ..... I heard that supposedly Eddie Van Halen tried out to be the Limp Bizkit guitarist when they were doing open auditions .... this is ridiculous for two reasons: A) A legend like Eddie actually tries out for Limp Bizkit, are you serious? He can actually get his act together to play guitar and instead of reforming Van Halen he tries out to be Fred Durst's guitarist? And B) EDDIE VAN HALEN tries out to be in your band and you pick the guy from Snot instead?? I really hope that this is a rumor or Eddie was drunk off his ass at least, otherwise it just blows my mind .... A few albums I've enjoyed lately: A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step Iron Maiden - Dance of Death Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son Type O Negative - Life is Killing Me Nightrage - Sweet Vengeance Johnny Cash - Greatest Hits Darkane - Expanding Senses Oh yeah, and I survived the great Hurricane Isabel and lived to tell about it ... Congratulations to the Pitt football team for blowing their national championship hopes with a loss to Toledo ... god I wish I could have been in Pittsburgh to laugh in those fools' faces .... Shit on Pitt!!!!! Message to the record companies suing music downloaders: Get real. The real crime here is charging people $18.99 for the latest steaming pile of crap from Nelly featuring the Neptunes ..... Oh and Ace in the Hole (fantasy football team) is 2-1 .... so take that. That's all I got. Tuesday, September 02, 2003
Well I'm back online after a couple days in the 19th century ... my brother had taken our home computer to school, and my connection wasn't working .... turns out all I had to do was unplug the wire for a minute and plug it back in .... dumbass
Anyway, not too much new other than my bro moving out, pretty lonely here without Jen ... got my first paycheck at work, that was cool .... me and my dad drafted our fantasy team, check out the lineup: QB Daunte Culpepper QB Steve McNair RB Shaun Alexander RB Stephen Davis RB Onterrio Smith RB Moe Williams WR Laveranues Coles WR Donald Driver WR Charles Rogers WR Tai Streets TE Randy McMichael TE Wesley Walls K Matt Bryant K Joe Nedney Def Miami Dolphins Def Oakland Raiders Not too bad, took Alexander over Marshall Faulk in the first round, after getting burned by another Ram (Kurt Warner) last season with our first pick .... big Shaun better score some mad touchdowns this year .... but with a year of experience under our belts, Ace in the Hole will be playoff bound this year .... No. 25 Penn State got off to a decent start to its 2003 football season with a 23-10 over Big East cellar dwellers Temple ... they didn't look that great, Zack Mills had trouble getting into the groove at QB, Michael Robinson was all over the field, they used a whole bunch of running backs but highly touted freshman Austin Scott looked pretty impressive, hopefully he'll step to the forefront with a big breakout year, he was by most accounts the top high school player in PA last year ..... anyway, it was weird watching PSU on TV this year and not being at Beaver Stadium, but I guess that's the life of alumni like myself .... hopefully I'll get up to see a game this year, and hopefully they'll destroy Boston College this Saturday .... Went to the Jets-Eagles preseason game in Philly last week and got to check out the brand new Lincoln Financial Field, it was pretty damn nice, and a definite upgrade over the awful Vet ... check out a photo from our seats here ... also checked out the new baseball stadium they're building for the Phillies, it looked pretty nice as well .... those skank Philly fans have it pretty nice, too bad a good stadium doesn't equal a good team .... Props to my buddy Jeff Rice for the kickoff of the Centre Daily Times' new CDT Blue section, he's part of the editing staff (goofy one on the left) .... damn I wish I was part of the "Blue Crew" .... but I do wish him and the section all of the best, even though it's direct competition of the Collegian, maybe the two can find their niches in the mass media market that is State College ... |
