Folks, there's an exciting new product that you've got to check out .... I was lucky enough to catch an infomercial for it at 2 in the a.m. yesterday, you've really gotta see it .... introducting the washlet, "the next generation of toilet fixtures" ... essentially it's this whack toilet that shoots warm water out of a "wand" so you can wash those hard to reach places as you sit on the john for "complete cleansing" .... but don't take my word for it, visit the site, check out the interactive videos, and experience the evolution of ass-cleaning ....

So the Yankees lost .... to the freakin' Marlins. Three straight years without a championship :( I'm not as devastated over this one, they really didn't deserve to win this series after the way they played, pretty much all their flaws from the regular season that they never did figure out (lack of timely hitting with men on base, middle relief) came back to haunt them ... they did have a good run though, and the Boston series will be one for the ages ... congrats to Florida, although I could do without all the kissing from Pudge, and Josh Beckett was pretty cocky .... you know The Boss is gonna make some changes now, let's just hope they are the RIGHT changes, sometimes the best changes are making no changes (i.e. keeping Joe Torre and Andy Pettitte for god's sake!!), so we'll see how the offseason goes, hopefully they'll be a better ballclub when it starts all over again ...
Had a good time at PSU last week ... Jen even baked me a cake! I'll be making a weekend trip up there in a few weeks, that should be pretty dope. Special thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday last week, too .... Speakin of PSU, are the Lions awful or what? I really thought they'd pull off an upset against Iowa, I guess now they're gonna have to shock everyone and beat Ohio State this coming weekend ................................................... or not. The Giants, on the other hand, finally woke up out of their sleep and whipped the previously undefeated Vikings, 29-17 .... honestly, the score should have been a lot worse, if it wasn't for my man Kerry Collins blowing a few sure TD passes in the red zone ... they're a frustrating team no doubt, but again they've shown flashes of brilliance, hopefully they'll keep it up the rest of the year and play how they're capable of .... So my mom got a nice phone call from former NYC governor Mario Cuomo today, he called our home personally to tell us to vote for some guy running for Senate or something ... I thought it was pretty impressive that such a renowned politician would take the time out of his busy schedule to just dial up regular people and chat with them about politics, granted his voice sounded a little stiff, and he didn't really respond to questions he just kept on talking, but I guess that can be forgiven ... Stop the presses, magician David Blaine came out of his box after 44 days .... this has been a huge international story, we've all been fascinated by this young man and his daring feat, he'll surely be Time's Man of the Year after this one, bravo to you Mr. Blaine, you've captured the imagination of the world with your crazy stunts ....
Seriously though, it's funny that the British people threw stuff at him, and played loud music so he couldn't sleep .... they even cooked BBQs since he wasn't allowed to eat during that time .... funny stuff. Hey how about those Giants, are they god-awful or what .... that loss to the Eagles was just sickening, they played so poorly but Philly looked even worse, then to lose the way they did on a last-second punt return when they had the game wrapped up and several chances to put the Eagles out of their misery .... a seriously disturbing loss (and there have been lots from this Giants team over the years) ..... At least I have the Yankees, 6-1 winners last night in Game 2 as the Series shifts to Florida .... GO YANKS!!!!!! Friday, October 17, 2003
Yankees win .... theeeeeeeeee Yankees win!!!!!!!
An incredible victory tonight in extra innings against the Red Sox, looked like they were dead for a while, down four runs, Pedro was on his game, Clemens had nothing ..... huge relief effort by Mike Mussina and some others, two homers from slumping Jason Giambi, a great comeback led by Hideki Matsui and a huge hit by Jorge Posada (off his nemesis Pedro, no less), a tremendous three-inning effort in relief by Mariano Rivera (greatest reliever ever) and then a historic home run by Aaron Boone coming off the bench after doing nothing the whole series .... now you're a Yankee, my friend. Truly a classic game, probably the best ever in this storied rivalry, of course the "dream" World Series (Cubs-Red Sox) isn't happening, I bet the good people at FOX are pissed, but oh well, that's too bad, the curses live on ..... bring on the Marlins! N.Y. Yankees, 2003 American League Champions Thursday, October 16, 2003
Yankees vs. Red Sox, Game 7, Pedro vs. The Rocket .... should be a good one. GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!
So I had to brush my dog's teeth today, check this out, she has Poultry flavored toothpaste, it's not as bad as it sounds .... Monday, October 13, 2003
Had a very good weekend, got to spend some time with Jen since she was home, unfortunately I had to work almost every night, but it was still fun ....
Also got to see Alan, who celebrated his 23rd birthday yesterday, a special Jay's World Happy B-Day Wish to the Al-Dawg ..... of course, this also means that in just a few more days (Oct. 21) I too will be turning 23 .... god we are old men .... How about this big Red Sox-Yankees feud, it's getting pretty crazy with that Pedro-Zimmer fight .... it was pretty embarrassing on both sides, but I have to say I hate Boston even more after this, the actions of Pedro and Manny Ramirez were just despicable .... at least the Yanks will be wrapping up the series pretty soon ... If you would have told me a few months ago that on Oct. 13, the Giants and PSU would have only four combined wins, I would have said you're crazy .... I guess I'm the crazy one for having high expectations, because they both are sucking ... hard. At least the Giants still have a chance to turn their season around, PSU is pretty much done, although I'll be rooting for them to pull off a big upset against either (or both) Iowa and Ohio State in the coming weeks .... Another of my favorite recent commercials: That catchy new McDonald's one with the song that goes "Im lovin it" .... I AM lovin it! And those amateur-style raps that seem to go on forever .... it doesn't get any better than that. I'm just happy they replay it multiple times during the baseball playoff games so I can enjoy them over and over ... I was lucky enough to catch a espanol-dubbed version of The Breakfast Club on the spanish channel last night at 2:30 in the a.m., the part where that hard-ass principal confronts Judd Nelson's character in the closet is even more intense when it's in spanish, good stuff ... Oh and the Rangers kicked off their 2003-04 season with two losses to Minnesota and Columbus by a combined score of 10-3 .... here we go again. Finally, happy Columbus Day to all my Italian-American kinfolk out there ... let's go enslave some natives and follow it up with a nice chicken parm dinner, huh? Thursday, October 09, 2003
I hope you're all keeping Roy (of Siegfried and Roy fame) in your thoughts and prayers, after that nasty tiger bite we almost lost a legend of homosexual entertainment .........
Yes, the Yanks lost yesterday to the Red Sox, but have no fear, last time I checked it's best of seven ....... plus Pettitte's on the mound tonight, they'll get back on track ..... My favorite commercial right now has to be that MCI long distance one with Michael McDonald, you know, gray-bearded 80s music guy on the keyboards singin "Ain't no mountain high enough," there's just no reason for him to be appearing in it, that's what makes it so great. Damn catchy song too. Outstanding. Jen's comin home tonight! Wednesday, October 08, 2003
Well the apocalypse is almost upon us, first the Cubs and Red Sox are close to getting into the World Series, and now the Terminator is the governor of California ....
That's right, Arnold Schwarzennegger was declared the winner in the big recall election Tuesday, I guess the voters weren't swayed by the recent news that he's groped/sexually assaulted as many as 15 women, or that he participated in drug-and-orgy fests, or that his dad was a Nazi soldier ..... oh and there's also the little fact that he's an ACTOR with NO EXPERIENCE IN POLITICS WHATSOEVER ..... but anyhoo, it's pretty cool and funny that he got elected I guess, it's not like any of his decisions will affect me, if it were Jersey it'd be a different story .... And on a side note, the next time you're reading a "WHY DO THEY HATE US?" cover story on Time magazine or Newsweek that ponders why the U.S. is the laughingstock/object of hatred and disgust for militant Islamic terrorists, not to mention most of the rest of the globe, just think about this whole episode and maybe you'll understand. Anyway, back to baseball, since politics makes me ill sometimes .... looks like it's the showdown we've all been waiting for, Yankees vs. Red Sox in the ALCS, the most storied (ie overhyped) rivalry in sports history ..... it should be epic though, and we all know how these things turn out, so I'm not too worried ... yet. It would be devastating if the Yanks lost, if for no other reason George Steinbrenner would have a brain aneurysm and then trade Derek Jeter and Andy Pettitte for Ken Griffey Jr ..... but I can't wait though, so stay tuned, the madness begins tonight!!! One last note, for all the JoePa bashers out there who say he's too old, check out this gem, courtesy of my pal and Daily Collegian football writer Steve Swart: Over the weekend, the glasses were stolen off the bronze Paterno statue that stands outside Beaver Stadium. Paterno said he didn't know that the glasses were stolen, much less where the statue was located. He does know one thing, even with his eyesight worsening as he has gotten older. "Still when I drive through this campus I see all the pretty, pretty girls," Paterno said. "I still know when they are pretty." The old guy's still got it.........be sure to tune into ESPN on Friday at 7 p.m. for a special on the life of Joe, maybe you could learn a thing or two about what college athletics is really about, and why he deserves a little more respect. P.S. Jen is coming home Thursday :) Monday, October 06, 2003
Congrats to the New York Yankees for advancing to the American League Championship Series .... bring on the A's or Red Sox!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everybody proclaimed them dead after Game 1 against the Twins but I guess they have some life in them after all....
My other teams, the Giants and Penn State, didn't fare as well this weekend .... PSU got beat again, this time by Wisconsin, folks are still callin for JoePa's head but this team just isn't playing up to its capabilities ..... As for the Giants, they hold Miami's monster running back, Ricky Williams, to just 39 yards rushing (0 through three quarters) and still blow it .... and how many special teams goofs can one team have, huh? The kicker gets hurt JUST BY KICKING A FIELD GOAL so they have to bring in the punter, who proceeds to miss a routine 29-yarder that would have tied the goddamn game .... unbelievable. At least my fantasy team SHOULD win, all I need is two measley points out of the Colts' defense tonight against the Bucs and we'll improve to 3-2 .... Oh and I forgot to mention, last week I caught the final episode of The Fresh Prince, it was great, it featued a cameo from Mr. Drummond and Arnold (Gary Coleman) from Diff'rent Strokes ... incredible. Will also said a tearful goodbye to the Banks family, complete with a heartfelt hug with Uncle Phil, it was pretty emotional. Yes, this is the president of a prestigious academic institution .... Finally, peep this Black Sabbath news: Recently, a 7 demo (possibly an acetate) of an unreleased 1969 track called When I Came Down fell into the hands of an American collector named Joe D'Agostino. It appears to have been recorded during the period in which the band was doing gigs under the names Earth AND Black Sabbath (between March and October 69). WICD may very well be the 3rd Earth demo to surface, with Song For Jim and The Rebel being the first 2. Undoubtedly, it is the most significant Black Sabbath track to come to light in many years. While there are probably many more gems still locked in away in the vaults, so few have been heard by anyone outside of the band and their insiders. I'm pretty sure I'd kill for this. Or at least pay money for it. |
